Department of Defense (DoD) EVM Requirements
The current contract funding levels that require DoD EVM are outlined in the bullets below. This is a simplified description of the contract EVM requirements. A full explanation can be found here.
Please note that the type of contract and other factors can affect the need for, or the type of Earned Value Management System that is required in a DoD EVM Proposal. These include:
- IT contracts, which requires the use of EVM at much lower Contract Values
- Contracts of less than 12 months in duration may not require the use of EVM
- High Risk projects may be required at lower Contract Values
- Level of effort, time and materials, and services contract are considered on a case-by-case basis by the DoD Program Manager
- Firm-Fixed Price contracts and subcontracts which may not require the use of EVM
