This course introduces students to building an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) in Microsoft Project that conforms to federal contract reporting standards and industry best-practices.

Who Will Benefit?

Project Managers or Schedulers building and maintaining Microsoft Project schedules to manage federal government contracts or to interface with Earned Value Management (EVM) software (such as Deltek Cobra, EVMS forProject or similar software).

Anyone who wants to learn how to schedule in Microsoft Project using best practices from the NDIA Planning & Scheduling Excellence Guide (PASEG), or GAO Scheduling Guide.

What Will I Learn?

  • Create an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) using Microsoft Project using good scheduling practices
  • Configure options for ideal critical path scheduling calculations
  • Structure the schedule to align with a Contract Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS)
  • Model Control Account schedules with supporting Work Packages and Planning Packages
  • Identify contract and other critical program milestones and integrate the schedule to forecast delivery dates
  • Utilize a shared resource pool (Microsoft Project) or enterprise resource pool (Project Online/Server)
  • Assign resources and establish a baseline 
  • Validate schedule integrity using the DCMA 14-point analysis
  • Update schedule progress (with or without actuals) and forecast
  • Analyze the outcomes of schedule revisions
  • Analyze schedule and resource forecasts
